ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY This annotated bibliography provides an overview of my scholarly work. I prepared it to guide interested colleagues and collaborators—and even more importantly, potential colleagues and collaborators—through the seeming non-linearity of my interests, my scholarship, and my career. I prepared the first draft of this memo in the early 1990s, when much of the early material was still relatively fresh in my memory. I have edited, updated, and revised it sporadically since then, most recently in December 2006. Wherever possible, however, I have left my earlier impressions of my earlier work intact. Organizationally, I have arranged the material thematically and chronologically. The subject areas appear in the order that I first began my inquiries. The publications within each category appear in the order that I wrote them (not necessarily their order of publication). Because many of my interests and inquiries have overlapped, the articles are not entirely in chronological order. Finally, where relevant, I list and discuss conference papers subsumed by later journal articles along with the final publications.
